Bowers produces the most comprehensive series of bore gauges and internal measuring equipment available, not all applications can be covered by their standard instrument range. However, Bowers has also earned a reputation for manufacturing special heads for measuring non-standard applications. Thread measurement is one of the many difficult measuring problems easily solved by these special heads.
Bowers Screw Thread Measurement bore gauge is meant for measuring precision bore on a system with effective (functional) diameter, pitch diameter, major diameter, between M4 - 300mm. / No. 8 UN - 12" diameter. This clever way of bore gaging can be used as an alternative to thread plugs gauges or thread ring gauges. One of the risks of using thread gauges as a control method during ongoing production is that if you find a part that lies NG, you may react too late. There is a high probability that you have already been producing outside the tolerance for some time. If the operator can know the real value, he can centre the process around the target value, which is usually the same as the middle of the tolerance range, and secondly to show where the limits of a stable process lie. The bore gauge for measuring screw threads is an internal measuring instrument which allows the user to precisely know the effective values and no longer just a judgment.
